3.3 Quiet Hours

Quiet hours are established to determine unreasonable loud noise, which can be heard either two doors away or more than twenty-five (25) feet from the resident’s door, during periods of high studying or sleeping hours.

Quiet hours are in effect from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, quiet hours are in effect from midnight to 10 a.m.

Twenty-four-hour quiet hours will begin Sunday morning at 9 a.m. the week before Reading Day, and during intersession periods.

Twenty-four-hour quiet hours are established to align with peak study periods and cannot be altered by residents. All attempts will be made to make building repairs at a reasonable hour. However, emergency work or repairs inside or outside residential facilities may need to be completed during quiet hours.

Courtesy Hours

Courtesy Hours are in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Residents should maintain a noise level that cannot be heard more than two doors away and be respectful of requests made by their fellow residents and/or staff to lower their noise level.
