Laundry
Due to delays in implementation, the Speed Queen app is not required for laundry usage in the residence halls at this time.
There are washing and drying machines located in each hall for residential use.
Your housing fees include up to two washing and two drying cycles per week. A credit is placed on your laundry app account for the total number of wash/dryer loads at the start of each semester. Unused credits do not carry over to the next semester.
Each student will have a unique ID for the Speed Queen app. The unique ID will be provided to students in the Housing Portal. The Speed Queen App will be available for students starting Tuesday, Aug. 9. Students will receive more information in the weeks to come.
If a student needs to do more laundry, they can add funds to their account using a credit or debit card or Apple Pay. The cost is $1.50 a load. There is no need to carry a wallet or coins to the laundry room – just the phone. University Housing is subsidizing the cost of these machines to increase technology services while keeping the cost low for students.
The mobile app allows students to:
- View the laundry room
- See the machine status
- See the time remaining on the machine – no estimations
- See when clothes are finished but not collected
- Receive alerts via email/text notification
- Report a laundry issue by phone, email, website or QR code
University Housing does not supply laundry detergent. We recommend that you use a "pods"-type product when washing your clothes for convenience and cleanliness.
