Move Out Information

• You’ll receive an email in your UARK email account on Tuesday, April 21 with instructions on how to sign up for a departure appointment.
• At your appointment, your RA will inspect your room using your Room Inventory Form. Be sure to review your online form carefully and confirm or update any listed changes. 

Students are required to move out within 24 hours of their last final exam. All students must be out by Friday, May 8th at 5pm. 

• You can avoid any check out related charges by following these steps: 
• $150 Improper Check‑Out Charge 
  Charged if you leave without checking out properly (plus any damage charges). 
• $45 Late or Unscheduled Check‑Out Charge 
  Charged if you do not sign up for a departure appointment

 

• All University Housing keys must be returned during check out with your RA or if a student is selecting the Express Checkout option keys will go in the Express Checkout envelope and returned to the zone front desk. 
• Keys that are not returned will be processed as a lock change or replacements, ranging from $163.00–$196.00. 

Before you check out, make sure you: 

• Thoroughly clean your room, including sinks and suite/apartment bathrooms 
• If you lofted your bed, your bed must be returned to the set height. A model bed will be close to your front desk, or you can ask an RA for the set height.  

• Take recycling to your building’s recycling centers 

• Take trash to outdoor dumpsters, trash chutes will be closed during finals week. 

• Place donation items in Leave Green areas 

• Do NOT leave bulky items (sofas, broken refrigerators, etc.) in dumpsters or donation bins 

• Leave all Housing‑issued furniture in the room and in its original condition 

• Remove hooks, nails, and fasteners from walls  

• Leave 3M Command Strips—maintenance will remove those 

Express Check Out allows you to: 

• Fully clean and prepare your room 
• Turn your keys in at the front desk without a checking out directly with a Resident Assistant 
• Important details about Express Check outs: 
• Availability begins on Reading Day and students select their Express check out preferred time in the housing contracting portal just like a traditional check out. 
•  The last day a student can complete an express checkout (who doesn’t have an approved extended stay) is 7pm on Thursday, May 7th.By choosing Express Check‑Out, students waive your right to appeal any charges. 

If you need to stay later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 8, you must:

• Complete the Extended Stay Request form (available starting Tuesday, April 21st in the housing contracting portal)
• Hall Director’s will review and approve/not allow your extended stay request.
• If approved, place an “Occupied Room” sign on your door until you officially move out
  • All approved Extended Stays are automatically considered Express Check-Outs.
• Extended Stay requests are for very limited situations and are not available in all residence halls. 

RA’s will host closing meetings between Sunday, April 19, and Sunday, April 26.  Attendance is required and provides important move‑out reminders. 

If you plan to take summer classes, Summer Housing (May–August) contracts are available now in the Housing Contracting Portal. Additional details are available on the Summer Housing and Dining webpage. If you are moving directly from your Spring assignment to Summer Hall, you MUST complete an Extended Stay Request and list your reason for needing the extension as “Summer Intersession Housing”. Students moving from their Spring housing option to their summer assignment will complete their move in the afternoon on Sunday, May 8th.  

 

• The 2026 Spring Bicycle Roundup is currently underway! Unwanted bikes are refurbished and added to the UARK Bicycle Library to support sustainable transportation on campus. 
• You can donate your bike by: 
  • Dropping it off at the Office for Sustainability, 238 Harmon Ave 
  • Calling 479‑575‑3715 to schedule a pickup 
  • Emailing sustain@uark.edu to schedule a pickup

• Starting on Tuesday, April 21st, students can log into the Housing Portal to submit an Extended Stay Request. Hall Directors will review the request and let the students know if they are approved or denied. If a student is approved, they must hang an “Approved Extended Stay” sign on their door they can pick up from their front desk or Hall Director. Approvals are not guaranteed and students are required to state the reason for their request and may be asked to provide documentation.  
• Any student approved for an Extended Stay will complete an Express Check Out.  

Starting Tuesday, April 21st, students can log into the Housing Portal to sign up for a move-out timeslot. If they are wishing to complete an Express Check Out, they must still select a timeslot and indicate that they will be opting for an Express Check Out rather than a standard check out.  

Timeslots are “first come-first served”, however there are multiple timeslots in each building. However, if a special circumstance has happened an a timeslot is not available students can requests a special checkout time from their Hall Director. 

Students can obtain a temporary parking permit from their front desk that allows them to park in a residential lot closest to their hall in a marked parking spot for up to 30 minutes.  

Large box trucks and trailers are not permitted as there will not be room in the residential parking lots for these larger vehicles and trailers. 

University Housing does not provide colors to paint match. Please note that previously posted colors will be out of date as rooms have been repainted.  

Halls will have a limited number of dollies and carts for students to check out at their front desk areas. We encourage families/friends to use hand carts or dollies from home. 

Residence halls will have space in their main lobby for student to leave unwanted items and/or unopened food as part of the Leave Green initiative. University Housing partners with Potter’s House, Habitat for Humanity, and the Full Circle Food Pantry to collect these items and redistribute them as needed, reducing what is sent to the landfill.
