How to Apply for Graduate Student Housing

Graduate Student Housing uses the existing University Housing Portal. You’ll complete a housing application and select a contract for one of the graduate housing options.

  1. Go to housing.uark.edu and open the Housing Portal.
  2. Log in with your UARK credentials.
  3. Complete the housing application for the upcoming academic year.
  4. In the My Details section, track your application, contract term, building and room assignment, roommate details, arrival appointment and mailing information.
  5. Once your contract is confirmed, you’ll soon receive details about your early August 2026 move-in dates.

Eligibility at a Glance

  • Single, enrolled graduate students at the University of Arkansas
  • Minimum 6-hours required graduate credit hours each semester
  • Pilot does not include housing for non-enrolled family members
  • Pets are not allowed (service and support animals may be approved via the Center for Educational Access)

When you graduate or fall below the minimum credit hours, plan to move out at the end of your current lease term.

Roommates & Assignments

In shared apartments, each student has a private bedroom and shares the bathroom, kitchen and living space.

  • Apply on your own and University Housing will match you with a roommate based on the preferences you list in the Housing Portal.
  • If you wish to live with a specific graduate student, you can link as roommates in the portal and request to be assigned together.

Transit, Parking & Dining

  • Razorback Transit Route 13 serves the Hill corridor with access to main campus.
  • Both properties are walkable or a short bus ride from campus buildings.
  • Parking is available at both properties (permit and details managed through Transit & Parking).
  • Campus dining locations remain available during the academic year; residents may use meal plans or pay-as-you-go.

Graduate Student Housing will also be highlighted during Graduate Student Orientation so you can connect with Housing, GSIE, CEA, Chartwells and Parking & Transit.

Graduate Student Housing is available to single, enrolled graduate students who meet the 6-hour minimum required credit-hour load for one year.

Yes. Graduate Student Housing uses a year-round 12-month contract beginning early August 2026. Exact dates will be confirmed in your contract. If you are graduating in May, you can file a statement of non-erollment and be released from the contract.

No. This pilot is for single graduate students and does not include housing for non-enrolled family members.

Pets are not allowed. Service animals and approved emotional support animals may be permitted through the Center for Educational Access.

Graduate housing rates fall below average local rents and include utilities, furnishings and Wi-Fi. Exact monthly rates will be posted once finalized and are billed monthly to your student account in Workday.

No, however, students are required to pay a $40 non-refundable application charge.

Yes. You may request a specific roommate through the Housing Portal. Otherwise, roommates are matched based on the preferences you provide in your application.
