What is ResNet?

ResNet is a service for residents that enables smart devices to connect to the internet.

Device Information

Devices Not Allowed

  • Wireless Printers
  • Routers
  • Network Switches

These devices cause interference with the campus provided network as well as pose a security risk to the campus network.

In accordance with the University Housing Residence Hall Handbook any student caught using one of these devices may face progressive disciplinary action.

Visit the Residence Hall Handbook — 2.0 Internet Access for more information.

Gaming Consoles

Game consoles including PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo devices should connect to the network using UARK Housing IoT Wi-Fi or through a wired connection using ports 1-3 on your Aruba access point (white box mounted to the wall).

Mobile Devices

Mobile Devices connect to UARK Wi-Fi. When signing into to UARK Wi-Fi you will need to use your UARK credentials. These are the same credentials you use to sign into UAConnect and Blackboard.

Computers

Laptops, tablets and desktop devices connect to the UARK Wi-Fi or through ethernet by plugging into ports 1-3 on your Aruba access point mounted to the room wall.

Use your UARK credentials. For gaming PCs, please contact ResNet to get setup.

Smart TVs

Smart TVs do not connect to the Wi-Fi networks (this includes Roku TVs and Fire TVs).

However, they do work using a wired connection. ResNet will provide ethernet cables if needed.

Smart Devices

Currently most smart devices do not work on the UARK wireless networks.

The network team is actively working on a solution to fix this issue and get these devices working.

Smart devices include Amazon Fire Sticks, Amazon Echos, Google Home, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, smart light bulbs, smart speakers, and smart plugs etc.

If you have a question about your smart device, please contact ResNet for more information.
