Greetings and welcome to the Pomfret Honors Quarters! University Housing is very committed to making sure that each residence hall at the University of Arkansas offers something unique and original to meet the needs of individual students. Pomfret Hall is no exception.

Pomfret houses nearly 800 residents and is the home away from home for several members of the University Honors College Program. Pomfret has an entire tower devoted to first-year Honors students and two other wings housing upperclass and first-year Honor Students. Pomfret is staffed with 23 Resident Assistants, one Counselor in Residence, two professional Coordinators for Residence Education, one full-time secretary, and a phenomenal facilities staff that maintains the building. Pomfret is a traditional-style residence hall with community bathrooms. In addition, each resident has a roommate and his or her own bed, desk and closet. Pomfret also has two free laundry facilities, internet access in each room, and houses the Pomfret Dining Center, the office for the Director of Honors College Recruitment, a branch of the Enhanced Learning Center, one classroom, a music room, a television room, several study rooms, and a General Access Computer Lab.

We hope to provide students residing in Pomfret Hall with a foundation for academic and personal success at the University of Arkansas and beyond. Pomfret residents will have the opportunity to:

  • Establish a home away from home
  • Make connections through academic and social networks
  • Become more aware of and appreciate diversity on campus
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Understand the importance of community responsibility

Pomfret Hall traditions and annual programs include the "Luau at Pomfret Hall," Midnight Breakfast, a Halloween Carnival for area children, competing in Homecoming, and receiving the Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence.

We expect our residents to uphold the Principles of the University. The five ideals are Integrity, Mutual Respect, Inquiry, Citizenship, and Connection. We believe that these ideals are the foundation for creating a successful residential and campus community.

It is my sincerest hope that you will choose to live at Pomfret Hall during your time at the University of Arkansas. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns.

Sincerely,

Grant Carlson and Jonathan Manz
Pomfret Hall Coordinators for Residence Education
