Northwest Quad
Coordinator for Residence Education Welcome Letter
Welcome to the Northwest Quad (NWQ)! Residence Education is very committed to making sure that each residence hall at the University of Arkansas offers something unique and original to meet the needs of individual students. The NWQ is no exception.
In our four buildings, we house approximately 600 students including scholarship athletes, honors students, 15 Resident Assistants, one Faculty in Residence, and one professional Coordinator for Residence Education. The rooms are suite-style with each resident having their own bedroom, sharing a bathroom with one other person, and sharing a living room with three other people. Additionally, each resident has a mailbox, each room has high-speed internet access, and every building has free laundry facilities. The NWQ also houses the office of a Counselor in Residence, the NWQ Dining Center, a branch of the Enhanced Learning Center, three classrooms, a music room and a General Access Computer Lab.
We hope to provide students residing in the NWQ with a foundation for academic and personal success at the University of Arkansas and beyond. NWQ residents will have the opportunity to:
- Establish a home away from home
- Make connections through academic and social networks
- Become more aware of and appreciate diversity on campus
- Develop leadership skills
- Understand the importance of community responsibility
NWQ traditions and annual programs include competing in Homecoming, a Texas Hold'em Tournament, the Spring Lecture Series, a Spring Break trip, and the Northside Block party.
We expect our residents to uphold the Principles of the University. The five ideals are Integrity, Mutual Respect, Inquiry, Citizenship, and Connection. We believe that these ideals are the foundation for creating a successful residential and campus community.
It is my sincerest hope that you will choose to live at the NWQ during your time at the University of Arkansas. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Sincerely,
Leo Malloy
Coordinator for Residence Education
NWQ residents say...
"I love living in the NWQ because I get my own room and the building is in close proximity to my classes and the health center."
-Keith, sophomore poultry science major
"Living in the NWQ has given me a foot up on other students in my classes because I have easy access to the
tutoring offered by the Enhanced Learning Center. My roommates and I can just go downstairs almost any night of
the week and receive math tutoring."
-Jessica, sophomore business major
"My involvement with the NWQ Hall Senate has definitely helped me develop my leadership skills and to make friends
at the same time. I would not be involved in the Student Government on-campus if it weren't for the connections
I made in the NWQ Hall Senate."
-Hannah, junior political science major
