Maple Hill East
Coordinator for Residence Education Welcome Letter
Maple Hill East is an innovative community at the University of Arkansas that opened in Fall 2007. It features a comprehensive residential curriculum program aimed at promoting academic success and citizenship. The hall is located on the north end of campus.
In Maple Hill East, we house approximately 340 freshmen and sophomores. We also house Academic Success Resident Assistants, eight Citizenship Resident Assistants, and a professional Coordinator for Residence Education. We provide a wide variety of room choices to our residents which include four-person two-bedroom suites, three-person supersuites, and four-person two-bedroom lofts. All of our supersuites and lofts have leather furniture. Each room has cable and Ethernet connections and the entire facility features wireless internet access. Maple Hill East has soft-seating study rooms, conference rooms, laundry rooms, kitchenette/lounge areas which include 40-inch flat screen televisions, a luxurious parlor, a sun room, three multi-purpose classrooms with the newest multimedia equipment, and various other smaller study rooms. Maple Hill is also the only residence hall on campus to feature an enclosed courtyard with a multi-purpose stage and sound equipment.
The residential curriculum program housed in Maple Hill East is geared towards teaching students how to be successful in college and how to be effective citizens. All Maple Hill East residents are members of the program. Each student will participate in at least one student organization on campus, a community service project each semester, and Faculty Associate programs each semester. Freshmen students will participate in Connection Groups that will help with their transition to college. Sophomore residents in Maple Hill East will serve as mentors to freshmen and participate in the Professional Development Institute. Maple Hill also features in-hall tutoring and supplemental instruction from the Enhanced Learning Center.
As one of the newest halls on campus, we are excited to start forming our contributions to campus traditions. One of the many ways for Maple Hill residents to become involved in their community is the Student Interest and Activities Board which serves as the hall governing body, plans events for the hall, holds Town Hall meetings, and purchases equipment for community use.
We hope that you will choose to live in Maple Hill East during your first two years at the University of Arkansas. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Lizz Warren
Coordinator for Residence Education
