Hello and Welcome to Humphreys Hall!
Residence Education is very committed to making sure that each residence hall at the University of Arkansas offers something unique and original to meet the needs of individual students. Humphreys Hall is no exception.
Not only do we provide the highest-quality box fans to keep you cool in the summer heat, we provide you with an opportunity to build connections with fellow residents. Humphreys is known for being the only residence hall with no air-conditioning, but I would like to take this moment to describe to you the environment that is created by residents working together for the common good of the building. The key to Humphreys Hall is keeping doors open to achieve a breeze, and when every resident props their door open, it provides a perfect cross-breeze! With every resident's door open when they are home, just imagine how many new friends you can meet in just the first week of school. There have been countless friends and future roommates made by residents "just stopping in." In addition to the culture and tradition of the closest-knit community on campus, our staff here in Humphreys Hall works to provide expert customer service. We have 13 resident assistants who help with transitional issues like how to find the best cafeteria, and who provide quality programs for you to enjoy and connect with your fellow residents.
Humphreys Hall hosts a movie library where students have the opportunity to check out movies and watch them on a rainy day or a cold Friday night. We also host a very excited hall senate that year after year provides awesome programs for our residents. Humphreys hosts one of the fiercest ping-pong competitions on campus every night, and despite having two tables in our lounge, there is often a wait for paddles and the dream of being a ping pong champion. We also offer high speed internet, a printing service, and laundry facilities that are all free to residents.
Humphreys Hall traditions and annual programs include competing in Homecoming, Sock assassins, The Thrift Store Throw down (a Sadie Hawkins dance), Hump Day Extravaganza, and of course the best party on campus, Mardi Gras.
We expect our residents to uphold the Principles of the University. The five ideals are Integrity, Mutual Respect, Inquiry, Citizenship, and Connection. We believe that these ideals are the foundation for creating a successful residential and campus community.
