What does Residential Facilities do?

We are your sole source contact for all maintenance, housekeeping, lock changes, special event set-ups, construction, renovation and safety & security concerns or needs. Return to top


How do I contact Residential Facilities?

What hours does Residential Facilities work?

Our core hours are staggered and cover from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. We rotate after-hours call-in status for 24/7/365 coverage. For after-hours or emergency requests, please contact our Service Center at (479)575-7005 or scenter@uark.edu. Return to top


How do I place a work request?

We use a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track all work orders, preventive maintenance, etc. You will find a link in the menu to your left as well as on your "My Housing" page that will take you to the online work request page. Once there, the user will fill out the form online, click the submit button, and the request will go to the Service Center. If the request is accepted by the Service Center, the user will receive an email with the work order number which they will be able to track online. If it is rejected, the user will receive an email explaining the reason why it was rejected (duplicate request, etc.). An alternate method will be to call the Service Center directly [(479)575-7005]. What do I do if I am locked out of my room?

Do you assess intentional damage charges to individuals, floors and/or buildings?

We collaborate closely with Residence Education by investigating every incident and determining the correct charges. We do our very best to assign all intentional damages to the responsible individual(s), but in the event that an incident can not be traced to an individual, we reserve the right to charge individual floors and/or buildings. Is there a lost and found?

The University of Arkansas now has an online lost and found. You can go to http://uarklf.com/selectitemtype.aspx to view the itmes in the lost and found. Return to top


Appliances

Is my room furnished with a microwave? If not, what is the size limitation for microwaves?

Microwave ovens are not provided by Housing. If you furnish your own microwave, it must not exceed 0.7 cubic feet. Return to top

Are toasters permitted in rooms?

No, toasters are permitted in kitchenettes and kitchens only. Return to top

May I bring my own mini-refrigerator?

Yes, if you want to bring your own refrigerator, you must bring one that does not exceed 3.2 cubic feet and has an Energy Star™ rating.Return to top

May I bring a portable humidifier?

Yes. It must be in proper condition and UL approved. Return to top

May I bring a space heater or electric blanket?

No. Our experience has proven that space heaters and electric blankets create an unnecessary hazard. Return to top


May I use an extension cord?

Only grounded multiple outlet strips, with a built-in breaker(UL approved only), may be used instead of extension cords. Do not plug one outlet strip into another outlet strip. Return to top


What are the mattress sizes in student rooms?

Depending on the residence hall, mattresses are either standard twin: 36" X 75" or long twin: 36" X 80". Long mattresses are available for students in buildings with standard-size mattresses upon request, but are limited. Return to top


Is pest control provided?

Yes, our halls are under contract with nationally recognized Orkin Pest Control. We use an Integrated Pest Control Management System to ensure the best practice for each application. Our service consists of quarterly and annual treatments. Return to top


Are phones provided in each room?

Phones are not installed in rooms; however, if you desire to have a phone installed, you have the option, at a cost, to request the phone jack be activated. Your account will be charged a monthly charge congruent with the current telecommunications rate. Return to top


Does my room have internet access?

Yes, all rooms have wireless internet access.Return to top


May I install shelves in my room?

Sorry, residents are not permitted to affix or attach any item to any wall. Return to top


What do I do if I do not have room for all of my belongings?

We do not provide any storage, therefore please plan appropriately to have space for all of your items. Return to top


May I have a live or cut Christmas tree in my resident hall room or apartment?

For safety reasons, live or cut trees are prohibited in all residence halls and apartments. Return to top


May I decorate my resident hall room or apartment with Christmas lights?

Yes, provided the lights are Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) approved. Return to top


How do you incorporate sustainability into your residence halls?

Sustainability seeks to endow the best outcomes for all ecosystems including the human and natural environments. Our responsibility transcends our lifetime and must be focused toward the indefinite future. It is a committment to best practices. All halls have a recycling area. Return to top
